LBDFI was founded in 2002 and is registered as a 501(c)(3) non profit religious organization under the laws of California. LBDFI is also the sole shareholder of LBDFI- India, a charitable company established under section 25 of the Companies act of India in 2007. In 2009 the Foundation also established LBDFI- Thailand, a charitable Foundation established in Bangkok to further extend its outreach.
